color me happy: paulette's macarons

2.21.2011
At the close of another dreary winter's day, I thought I'd color your world with pictures from one of the stops on this weekend's excursion into San Francisco with Michele of Cakewalk Baking and her friend Jessica.  We had a lovely girls day {that's code for leaving the kids at home} of shopping and inspiration gathering for an upcoming event.  A few of our stops included Miette {which sadly was closed due to an unfortunate plumbing incident}, Crown & Crumpet for afternoon tea, Kara's Cupcakes and Paulette's Macarons {pictured here}.  I'm not going to review the shops for you since it's already way past my bedtime, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves throughout, and I'd be happy to provide more info via e-mail for anyone planning a visit to these SF locations.

It was so much fun! We need to steal back over to the city to go to Miette!
I found & ordered my pink cake stand from Sweet Lulu...

How is Paulette's? My FI are I are in agreement, that Kara's wasn't all that :o( She was in the top 10 cupcakes on Martha Stewart so I took FI there for his Birthday and we were both disappointed, way to sweet and the frosting on both of the cupcakes we had were gritty.

Okay this is going to sound really bad but I have NEVER ever had one! I am sure they have been around for a while but in Australia they became quite popular after Master Chef was on TV here and they made some. I think its about time I went and tried one...although its not going to do anything for my diet.

I've never had a macaron but I'm looking for somewhere local where I might find them.
