Free Printable | Glow Stick Valentines Tags

2.10.2024

It's been SO long since I've done one of these. My kids are not little anymore and opportunities for things like cute classroom Valentines are coming to a fast end. However, this project was the perfect use for all our leftover glow stick bracelets from Theo's 10th birthday, so he agreed to let me design them 'in house'. In the spirit of the season, I thought I'd pop in and share the love with anyone in need of a last minute classroom Valentine's Day idea. Enjoy!

Free Printable | Valentines Teacher Gift Tags

2.13.2014

Yes, this is a totally last minute post.  Last minute... as in, I just thought of this yesterday when I saw these super cute potted violets at Trader Joes.  And yes, you could easily DiY your own little heart pots too if you happen to have a little more time on your hands. (like maybe next year?)

I put together some non-edible valentines for Caitlin's preschool classmates earlier this week and realized it would be nice to bring in a little something for her teachers too. After deciding on the flowers, I made some coordinating labels and thought I'd offer them up for your enjoyment... you know, because I love you guys.  The link is below. Happy Valentines day!

Free Printable | Geometric Holiday Gift Tags

11.25.2013

Can you believe the holidays are just around the corner?  For me the season holds extra significance this year because we're expecting baby #2 just after New Years. I honestly feel like I should be due any day, but I'm trying to be patient and enjoy these final months as the mom of an only child... I've heard that the transition from 1 to 2 kids can be quite the adjustment!

With everything else we have going on I'm keeping the holidays simple, so I was excited to team up again with The Tomkat Studio to plan ahead and design these festive geometric gift tags.  I'm in love with gold and emerald right now, so I'll definitely be using them for our family gifts- paired with kraft wrapping paper and red baking twine.  These printables are being featured along with many other designs, recipes and easy holiday ideas in Tomkat's 2013 Holiday Gift Guide.  I sure hope you'll check it out and enjoy all the fabulous inspiration.  Here's to another happy holiday season!

These tags will look their best printed on white letter-sized card stock.  Just download, print, cut and enjoy.

He Loves Me | A Daisy Bridal Shower

4.15.2013

Spring is clearly in full swing over here today.  I had such fun collaborating on this daisy bridal shower with my favorite partners in crime: Cakewalk Baking and Sherry Heck Photography.  Maybe you saw it featured last week over on The Sweetest Occasion?  Cyd is a doll and her blog is truly my favorite daily dose of pretty, so I can't thank her enough for such a beautiful feature.

Remember those carefree days of picking petals in the grass and dreaming of your true love?  You know, 'he loves me... he loves me not... he loves me!'. We were inspired by that innocent childhood memory to create a fresh take on a classic bridal shower with pops of bright colors in spring green, bold yellow and crisp white. All of the details to help create this shower are below. We hope you love it as much as we do.

Daisy Petals Invitation: I designed this invitation (available here) as a fun way to kick off the daisy theme and make guests smile with nostalgia. For an added pop of color, line the envelopes by tracing the envelope pattern onto a favorite piece of scrapbook paper, then trim down and insert.

He Loves Me Banner: We used a Silhouette machine to cut out the letters for the banner (which could also be accomplished by hand cutting). Strung with baker’s twine across the table, it added the perfect sweet and romantic touch.

Daisy Fans: Simple tissue fans doubled as giant daisies when placed in a scattered pattern above the serving table. They are lightweight enough to be affixed to the wall with just a bit of double stick tape or glue dots.

Daisy Cake & Cookies: Created by Michele of Cakewalk Baking, treats included a show stopping two tiered fondant covered daisy cake, sparkling sugar cookies and lemon tartlets topped with fresh whipped cream and candied lemon slices.

Spiked Lemonade: Traditional lemonade is always a refreshing beverage option, but for a more sophisticated twist, try this recipe for a sparkly spiked version: Simply combine 4c lemonade with 1c seltzer water, 1c vodka and a tbsp of lemon zest and stir. Garnish with a lemon wedge and either a sprig of fresh herbs or a single daisy.

DiY Tea Towels: Instead of traditional shower games, surprise the bride to be by having guests create unique a keepsake for her home- hand painted tea towels. This project is easily competed during the shower by providing a station with white flour sack towels, craft paints, stencils, brushes and washi tape. Guests can exercise their own creativity or use the tape and stencils to create a simple pattern.

Potted Daisy Favors: Thanks a bunch! These pretty potted daisies can double as centerpieces during the shower, but make a wonderful favor to send home with guests. Once home they can be transported into the ground, to grow and bloom with the marriage to come.

St Patricks Day | Green + Grey Printable Flags

3.11.2013
I love the combination of green & grey this time of year.  It reflects the mood outside... dreary and rainy with the dream of spring around the corner.  I've never been to Ireland, but somehow it feels just about right for an inspired Irish celebration.  So I made some flag toppers... obviously.  Now we can get our party on together. Happy St. Patricks Day!

I Heart Printable Pencil Valentines

2.12.2013
I found these adorable heart pencils at Target last week and I just knew they would inspire some last minute Valentine goodness. So I made these printables thinking I'd give them to my daughter's pre-school friends, but then decided that I like them so much I'm going to give them to my co-workers instead. Why not, right?  I work at a design firm so I think they'll appreciate the effort more than the 2 year olds... and frankly, us grown ups need some love and cheesiness too!

That includes you my friends, so I hope you all enjoy the freebie and have a very happy Valentines Day.
X's and O's.

Love is in the Air | Valentine Treats + Printable

2.04.2013
Today I bring you some printable Valentine's day goodness.  Hooray!  I was inspired by airheads red balloon logo and decided to try making a red balloon cookie topper out of their candy.  And guess what?  Cutting airheads with scissors is super easy and fun!  Pair that with a little valentine wordplay, some pink hearts and a simple sugar cookie recipe... and we've got ourselves one uplifting DiY.

Full disclosure: airheads is hosting a craft contest and the winner gets a ticket to Alt NYC.  Yeah, I'm down with that. Wait, scratch that... I pretty much never enter contests, so the fact that I'm entering this one and blogging about it means I'm pretty freaking over the moon psyched about that!  I have no idea if it helps my odds, but if you like this project, can you help a sister out and vote for it on the airheads facebook page?

You can vote HERE once a day until Feb 11th.

Read on below for a simple tutorial on how to make these balloon toppers, along with the printable and recipe for some pretty addictive cookies.  Happy love day!

Here's what you'll need:

- printable 5x7 valentine card (download HERE)
- cookie & icing ingredients (see recipe below)
- heart shaped cookie cutter (I used a 2" heart)
- airheads candy in cherry & white mystery flavors
- scissors for trimming candy
- cello bags for cookies
- pretty tape for attaching treats to card

Here's what to do:

1. Download the free printable and print/cut as many as you need.
2. Bake sugar cookies as directed below and pipe with icing when cool.
3. To make airheads balloons: take a cherry airhead and trim out a small oval about a 1/2" in diameter. Cut a tiny corner off the end and press together with the oval using your fingers to mold into a small balloon tip.  Trim a thin strip of the long end of a white mystery airhead.  Roll along a clean surface until a thin 'string' is formed.  Cut a 2" piece and form a small loop near one end.
4. Place balloon on upper left of iced heart cookie. Place string below balloon tip and run to edge of cookie (trim end if needed).  Gently press into icing.
5. When cookie icing is hardened, place cookie in a cello bag and attach to Valentine with tape along top.
6. Don't forget to write in a valentine message to your loved ones before you give away these treats.

Tip: If you're short on time, substitute the handmade cookies for a handful of mini airheads candy bars and you still have a cute valentine!

1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Heart shaped cookie cutter

Life | a Free Art Print

1.25.2013
Oh, hello friends... I may as well just tell you that in spite of my New Years resolution to be more positive, my 2013 has gotten off to a bit of a rocky start.  The good news is, I think it's finally starting to come around.  I was recently reminded of this John Lennon quote and decided I'd turn it into an art print to frame for our living room.  I think it's a good little mantra... sometimes the best thing is just to take a deep breath and remember - that's life.

I originally designed the quote as a black & white chalkboard print, but everything is just so much happier in gold glitter, isn't it?  If you want to download an 8x10 print for yourself, just click on the link below and you can have both versions. See, there's that positivity for you!

Holiday Family Fun

12.17.2012
I sure hope you guys are enjoying your holiday season.  I've been so busy checking items off our family fun list that I just realized today I never posted it to share as I did in the fall.  I know it's only a week until Christmas, but I hope it still inspires some extra joy for you + yours.  It would be nice if I had a chance to post some of these activities in progress too, but I think you'll have to settle for the occasional instagram this year.  Happy Holidays!

Merry Happy by CAKE. | Halloween Invites

9.21.2012
I kind of can't believe it's the first day of fall.  Now that my daughter is old enough to appreciate the seasons, I feel like it's time to up my game.  I'm already thinking about her Halloween costume and I'm stuck somewhere between Olivia and a Neverland Pirate, because clearly she watches too much TV and all I really want to do is dress her up like a cute owl again. Last weekend I even went so far as to write one of those seasonal to do lists that seem to have become so popular on Pinterest. I tried to keep it general so I can actually get to some of these activities, and then enjoy that a-type satisfaction that comes from crossing things off a list. If you'd like a copy of the list for your own fridge, go ahead and grab it...

Maybe you recognize the design?  I was being lazy so I borrowed elements from the fun retro Halloween Party Invitation I designed last year.  You can find it on Etsy, along with a new invite for this year that's a littler darker and a lot more chic.  It was adapted from a birthday invite I'm doing for Cakewalk Baking.  That party is still in the works, but I can't wait to share it around Halloween... it's going to be awesome.
