A Mother's Love: Emma's Valentine Surprise

2.13.2012
Please join me in welcoming back Ana of Blog Milk (formerly Live and Enliven) to CAKE. As the mother of a sweet little girl myself, her latest project makes my heart full of love. I just know you'll appreciate her DiY Valentines day surprise + printables as much as I do...

My daughter, Emma is certainly my biggest-most amazing source of whimsy. I would love to say she has inherited such delicate ways from me but I'd be lying. Emma is just herself in a beautifully simple way. I bet when she gets older she will be the kind of girl everyone wants to give a BFF bracelet to. I know I would. Last weekend I was planning what to give her for Valentine's day, you see... I love my kid but I truly, really, deeply love my kid when she is gladly surprised about something. She has this extremely expressive eyes and this tiny voice that eeks at any sign of cuteness. It makes my good mothering levels fly out the charts. I planned on giving her a chocolate, maybe I could take her out to eat, I thought... Then, reality struck me like lightening. She is 3 1/2 - The earliest memories I have go far back to 3 1/2 which means she will remember this, which means this was a make it or break it matter. That's how Valentine's Day in a box finally came to me. On February 14th when Emma leaves school I will be there, waiting for her (surprise n.1) Then I will take her to our beach spot (surprise n.2) and present her little squishy face with this box containing 2 of each item so we can both picnic together (surprise n.3). I'm positive she will love it.

If you want to make a box like this for your own little loved ones, here's what you need to know:
1. The box must contain all of their favorite things - In Emma's case, that translates to bubble gum, chocolate, oreos, pink lemonade, a ricotta creme cheese croissant AND a CD with the song "A Bushel and A Peck".
2. You must use only colors that are representative of the receiver's likes.
3. A note should be included with all your lovely thoughts and wishes. You will also need these labels and let me just throw this song in there because I love it.
