Homemade Honey + Almond Granola

10.12.2011
Hi there – It’s Michele from Cakewalk Baking and I’m here with a recipe for a healthy treat – homemade granola. Granola is one of those things that is so easy to make and truly bears no resemblance to what you buy in the store (kind of like canned peaches, do you know what I mean?). Once you make this recipe, you’ll never go back!

Granola is a fabulous everyday treat, but it also makes a great hostess gift pared with a bottle of local honey or packaged as a party favor for a brunch or shower.

There a millions of ways to enjoy your granola but my favorites are simple – on top of Greek yogurt with honey and fresh fruit, layered in a parfait, or straight out of the bag. Enjoy!

Homemade Honey & Almond Granola

Ingredients
4 cups rolled oats (not quick oats!)
2 cups sliced almonds
¾ cup canola or vegetable oil
½ cup honey
1 cup dried fruit of your choice (I used dried cranberries & golden raisins)

Directions
Mix the oats, almonds, oil and honey together until well combined. Spread out on a baking sheet on a Silpat (preferred) or parchment paper. Bake for approximately 40 minutes at 350°. Stir occasionally so the granola will brown evenly. When it’s cool, toss with dried fruit. Store in an airtight container.

I just bought ingredients last night to make my granola! Although, mine is wayyy less healthy. An entire stick of butter is used :/ I should try this one out!

I also put shredded coconut in the mix too, so freaking good!
